Motorola NNTN8271AS Replacement Swivel Clip & D-Ring for the APX XE Remote Speaker Mic (NNTN8203)

Motorola NNTN8271AS Replacement Swivel Clip & D-Ring for the APX XE Remote Speaker Mic (NNTN8203)

The Motorola NNTN8271 (current revision NNTN8271AS) is Motorola’s original replacement clothing clip and D-ring for the APX XE remote speaker microphone (NNTN8203), the large-button fireground speaker mic used with APX 6000 XE, APX 7000 XE and APX 8000 XE radios. The swivel clamping clip holds the speaker mic on a turnout coat collar, lapel, shoulder strap or epaulet. The D-ring gives you a secure attachment point for a lanyard, a strap or a radio strap’s hang-up clip. Paired with the Motorola NNTN8749A Button Pack, the NNTN8271 also lets the XE speaker mic slide into a Boston Leather firefighter radio strap for fast, secure mounting.

When the clip on your XE speaker mic cracks, loses tension or breaks off on the fireground, the NNTN8271AS gets it back in service without replacing the whole mic.

How the NNTN8271 Is Used

As a clothing clip:

1. Remove the broken clip from the back of the NNTN8203 XE speaker mic.
2. Install the NNTN8271AS clip and D-ring in its place.
3. Clip the speaker mic to your coat collar, lapel, epaulet or shoulder strap, and swivel it to the angle you want.
4. Use the D-ring to tether the mic to a lanyard or strap so it can’t be lost if it’s knocked loose.

With a fireman radio strap:

1. Attach an NNTN8749A button to the hang-up clip on your Boston Leather radio strap.
2. Slide the XE speaker mic’s NNTN8271 clip onto the button.
3. Wear the strap across your body so the speaker mic sits high on your chest, close to your mouth and easy to reach with gloves on.

Why replace the clip? A worn or broken clip lets the speaker mic slip, flip or fall, so it’s out of reach right when you need to transmit. A new NNTN8271AS restores a secure mount for a fraction of the cost of a new speaker mic.
