Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Motorola AY000223A01?

The AY000223A01 is Motorola’s 56-inch heavy-duty leather firefighter radio strap. It has a speaker mic hang-up clip, a positive locking buckle and rust-free scissor snaps that clip to a radio carry case.

How long is the AY000223A01 fire strap?

It’s 56 inches long and 1-1/4 inches wide. For a longer strap, choose the AY000229A01 64-inch fireman strap.

What radios is it approved for?

Motorola approves the AY000223A01 for APX and MOTOTRBO radios.

Does it attach directly to my radio?

No. It clips onto the D-rings of a radio carry case. You need a D-ring case such as the PMLN5330C for the APX 7000 or the PMLN5838A for the XPR 7000 series.

Should I choose the 56-inch or the 64-inch strap?

The 56-inch AY000223A01 fits most firefighters. If you’re tall, or you wear the strap over bulky SCBA and turnout gear, the 64-inch AY000229A01 gives you more length.

Why do firefighters wear a radio strap?

A fire radio strap keeps the radio outside your turnout coat, at your side and within reach. The speaker mic stays clipped at your shoulder, so you can communicate quickly while your hands are busy.

Is this a genuine Motorola fire strap?

Yes. The AY000223A01 is an original Motorola firefighter radio strap.
